89 Harbor
Experience the vibrant and captivating design of the 89 Harbor Knitting Pattern, inspired by the bustling scenery of a lively harbor filled with tourists, ferries, and local fishermen. This rectangular scarf is not only a beautiful accessory but also a testament to the creativity sparked by the movements and colors around the harbor.
Utilizing stitch patterns derived from my popular 'Rocas' shawl, this scarf features sharp i-cord edges and graphic diagonal lines that are artfully crafted through short rows and delicate eyelets. The scarf is divided into easy-to-knit panels, each showcasing a variety of stitch combinations that add texture and visual interest. The design is particularly suited for tonal or speckled yarns, but choosing a solid color can also yield a strikingly elegant piece.
One of the standout features of this pattern is its accessibility; it is fully detailed and both written instructions and charts are provided, catering to different knitting preferences and skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned knitter or just starting, you’ll find this pattern easy to follow.
For your project, you'll need 3 skeins of Julie Asselin Leizu Fingering yarn, which boasts a luxurious blend of 90% Superwash Merino and 10% Silk. Each skein weighs 115g and contains 420 yards (385 meters) of yarn, with the sample shown in the enchanting color: Jardinier. For a complete scarf, you will require a total of approximately 1170 yards (or about 1070 meters).
Alternatively, any Fingering or Sock weight yarn can be used for this project, and you'll need approximately 1094 to 1203 yards (1000 to 1100 meters) depending on your gauge and desired length.
We updated this pattern on 02.11.2019 to include several corrections, including the last row in section 4 and short row 1 in section 5, ensuring a seamless knitting experience. Whether you're knitting for yourself or as a thoughtful gift, the 89 Harbor pattern will keep your needles clicking and your creativity flowing!
