A Sailor's Wife Socks
Introducing the delightful Anne Wentworth Socks, a charming knitting pattern infused with feminine flair and intricate design. Featuring a whimsical ruffle that gracefully leads to lovely lacy sails wrapping around the leg, these socks are inspired by the beloved character from Jane Austen’s classic novel, Persuasion. The enchanting sails are skillfully created using slip-stitches and garter stitch techniques, making this pattern both beautiful and engaging to knit.
In the concluding moments of Persuasion, Anne and Frederick embark on their joyous journey together, and Anne exclaims, “… gloried in being a sailor’s wife.” To celebrate this heartfelt ending, I aimed to design a pair of feminine socks that perfectly complement the HMS Laconia Socks, which I originally crafted for the SKA Literary Challenge in 2013 (dedicated to Captain Wentworth). The Anne Wentworth Socks were thoughtfully designed for the 2014 SKA Literary Challenge, adding a charming addition to any knitting collection.
This pattern includes three sizes, accurately charted for Small, Medium, and Large. The estimated yardage required is approximately 370 (Medium: 390, Large: 410) yards, ensuring you have just enough yarn to create these stunning socks. Each pattern has been diligently test knit and professionally tech edited, guaranteeing clear instructions and flawless results. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or just starting your knitting journey, the Anne Wentworth Socks pattern will surely enhance your skills and style.
Embrace your creativity and add a touch of literary elegance to your sock collection with the enchanting Anne Wentworth Socks—perfect for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for a fellow knitting enthusiast!
