A Touch of Honey Clog Socks
**About the Design:** The honeycomb stitch is a timeless aran pattern that has captivated knitters for generations. Renowned for its visual appeal, this stitch is not only easy to work in a single color but becomes even more striking when crafted in two contrasting colors. The dimensional quality of the honeycomb truly shines through in such combinations, inviting both beginners and seasoned knitters to explore their creativity. After experimenting with both colorways, I am excited to share two stunning versions that highlight this beautiful stitch, as shown above!
This pattern is especially suited for those who are not yet confident in their skills, as well as for the adventurous aran knitter looking to expand their repertoire. The incorporation of the honeycomb pattern seamlessly continues through the heel flap and into the heel turning, providing both cushioned comfort and a beautifully balanced design throughout the sock.
Both samples for this pattern are crafted using Halcyon Botanica (160 yds/4 oz hanks), a premium all-wool yarn that is worsted spun and classified as worsted weight. This remarkable yarn boasts a luxurious sheen, incredible strength, and is perfect for creating intricate cable designs!
For those interested in making a pair of socks in each colorway, just 2 hanks each of the main color (MC) and contrasting color (CC) are required. The flexibility of this pattern makes it a perfect choice for a variety of sock styles and color combinations.
Gauge: To achieve the best results, aim for a gauge of 6 sts and 8 rnds per 1” (2.5 cm) in stockinette stitch when using size 3 needles; achieve 5.5 sts per inch in stockinette with size 5 needles, and ensure you have 7 sts per inch over the Honeycomb Pattern with size 5 needles or those that provide the correct gauge. Remember, taking the time to check your gauge can make a significant difference in your garment’s fit!
Substitute Yarn Weight: heavy worsted (aran) is recommended for this project, allowing you to customize your finish while utilizing the same captivating honeycomb stitch.
Embrace the beauty of the honeycomb stitch and elevate your knitting skills with this pattern! Happy Knitting! — Dawn
