Aardvark (cartoon)
Ever since watching the charming cartoons of ‘The Ant and the Aardvark’ during my childhood, I’ve developed a deep affection for aardvarks. Their unique, alien-like appearance combined with an endearing quality makes them irresistible! Driven by this love, I’ve created a delightful aardvark toy design featuring mischievous eyes that will surely capture the hearts of kids and adults alike. This fun knitting project is easy to follow and perfect for knitters of all skill levels!
This adorable knitted aardvark measures approximately 23 cm in length, making it the perfect size for playtime or cuddling. The pattern calls for the use of double-pointed needles, which can be a great way to explore new knitting techniques. The knitting requires some minor intarsia color work and loop stitches, both of which are clearly explained within the pattern to ensure a smooth knitting experience.
For this particular aardvark, I used 2.75 mm double-pointed needles (UK size 12, US size 2) along with Lana Grossa Baby Soft (13) in a lovely rose color and Lana Grossa Mohairlana (13) in a rich black-brown shade. These specific yarn choices not only showcase vibrant color variations but also allow for diverse textures that enhance the toy’s overall charm.
Feel free to experiment with different yarns and textures to make your aardvark truly unique! Choosing a soft yarn for the base will ensure that this whimsical toy becomes ultra-huggable and a favorite companion for anyone who gets their hands on it.
Get ready to dive into this delightful knitting adventure and create your own adorable aardvark. Happy knitting!
