Albatross
Welcome to the Summer of Sea Creatures 2020! This year, we are shining a spotlight on endangered species, and our first featured pattern is the charming Albatross. Join us in knitting this delightful creature while raising awareness about endangered animals. Don't forget to share your creations on Instagram by tagging @yarnigans or using the hashtag #summerofseacreatures. Thank you for being part of our fifth year of celebrating sea creatures through knitting!
The Albatross pattern is designed to be knitted in individual pieces that are then sewn together, allowing you to create a truly unique and cute amigurumi-style bird. For the legs, pipe cleaners are used to maintain their shape; however, if you are crafting this adorable albatross for a baby, we recommend leaving out the pipe cleaners for soft, floppy legs that are safe for little ones to play with.
When it comes to gauge, it’s not a strict requirement, giving you the freedom to express your creativity. I personally used worsted weight yarn along with size 3 needles to create a tight and dense fabric. However, feel free to substitute with thicker or thinner yarn as desired, simply adjusting your needle size accordingly to achieve the desired texture. Being able to knit in the round is essential for creating the albatross, as well as having a basic understanding of simple increases and decreases.
Get ready to embark on a fun and rewarding knitting journey with this Albatross pattern, helping raise awareness about endangered species as you craft the perfect companion. Embrace your creativity, gather your materials, and join us in making a difference one stitch at a time!
