Aldred Mittens

Welcome to the eleventh release in my exclusive series of 12 knitting patterns titled the Canadian Art Deco Knits e-book. These unique knitting patterns are being unveiled on a monthly basis since January 2015, allowing you to gradually explore the beauty of Canadian Art Deco design. Each pattern is available for individual purchase or you can opt for the complete Canadian Art Deco Knits e-book for a comprehensive experience.

This month’s striking mitten design is thoughtfully inspired by the intricate patterns found on the iconic Aldred Building located in Montreal. Capturing the essence of Art Deco architecture, this pattern showcases a blend of elegance and craftsmanship, making it a delightful project for knitters of all skill levels.

The fingering weight sample showcases a beautiful combination of two distinguished yarns:

For the primary color, we used Fleece Artist Blue Face Leicester Sock, which requires approximately 50g, offering around 156 yards (143 meters) of soft, luxurious texture.

For the contrasting color, we selected Hand Maiden Fine Yarn Casbah Sock, using approximately 30g, which provides around 93 yards (85 meters) of exquisite warmth and durability.

Perfect for both beginner and experienced knitters, this stranded mitten pattern combines comfort and style seamlessly. Don’t miss the chance to add this extraordinary piece to your knitting collection!
