Alho
Alho is the name of an old farm that holds deep familial significance, as it’s the land that nourished my great grandfather, my grandfather, and my mother. Although I’ve never lived there myself, Alho is the land I feel an intrinsic connection to, a place that embodies my roots.
The Alho sweater pattern is a beautifully crafted seamless garment designed to be worked from the top down. Featuring a round yoke adorned with an exquisite lace pattern, this sweater combines elegance with comfort. It has long sleeves, with the same delicate lace motif seamlessly transitioning onto one of the cuffs, enhancing its overall charm. Designed with ample positive ease, the Alho sweater boasts a flattering A-line shape, gently flaring toward a cropped hemline. The neck is thoughtfully shaped higher, while the back hem is elongated through the use of short row techniques, offering a refined silhouette. The lovely texture of Alho is created by combining the luxurious fibers of cashmere with mohair and silk strands held together, with the lacework uniquely crafted using only the mohair/silk yarn.
This knitting pattern calls for Holst Garn Noble (95% wool, 5% cashmere, 333 m/50 g) and Isager Silk Mohair (70% mohair, 30% silk, 212 m/25 g), or other light fingering and lace weight yarns held together to achieve the perfect drape and softness. The sweater is shown in the beautiful colors Rococo and 63. For size options, you will need 3-3-3 [3-3-4-4] 4-5-5-5 skeins of Noble and 4-4-4 [5-5-6-6] 6-7-7-7 skeins of Silk Mohair. This pattern is ideal for knitters looking to create a versatile and stylish wardrobe staple that beautifully showcases their knitting skills while paying homage to cherished family history.
By knitting the Alho sweater, you'll not only enjoy an engaging knit but also produce a timeless piece that resonates with the warmth and heritage of your own story. Embrace a rich knitting experience with the Alho pattern and create a garment that you will treasure for years to come.
