Allison's Braids - knitting pattern

Allison's Braids

$5.00

When I was in kindergarten, there was a girl in my class named Allison who wore her thick, brown hair styled in beautiful braids. Those vibrant memories came rushing back as I worked on the cables for this cozy scarf. Knit with a chunky weight yarn, I particularly love how the natural edges create an inviting finish that is both stylish and functional. This scarf not only keeps you warm but also adds a touch of elegance to any outfit.

Skill Level: Intermediate  |  Required Skills: Cast on, knit, purl, cables, bind off. While intarsia experience is beneficial, it’s not mandatory to complete this pattern successfully. One Size Fits Most

Finished Measurements: 56" length; 8" width, making it the perfect accessory for anyone looking to add a pop of color and texture to their wardrobe. Gauge: 16 stitches and 20 rows = 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch. Keep in mind that gauge is not critical for this project; however, a different gauge may affect the yarn requirements and the overall size of your finished piece, so taking the time to check your gauge is advisable.

Materials Needed: You'll need a bulky weight variegated yarn featuring long color changes; approximately 450 yards will suffice. The model is knitted using Noro Obi, which is a luxurious blend of 55% Wool, 35% Silk, and 10% Mohair (with 176 yards per 100g). For this project, you will need 3 skeins in color #05.

Needles: US 10 (6.0mm) straight needles, or use the size required to obtain your desired tension. This chunky scarf project is a delightful way to showcase your knitting skills while creating a warm accessory that can be worn throughout the seasons. Whether you’re gifting it or keeping it for yourself, this scarf is sure to make a statement!
