Amazonian butterflies
The Amazon rainforest, known as the largest rainforest in the world, is a vibrant ecosystem that serves as a home for over 4,000 butterfly species. Luckily, you don’t have to travel all the way to the Amazon to witness these exotic butterflies take shape in your home knitting projects!
This delightful knitting pattern features three beautiful butterflies: the stunning blue morpho, the graceful king swallowtail, and the vibrant sunset daggerwing. At the end of the pattern, you’ll also discover the intricate design for the exquisite passion flower. Each butterfly measures approximately 10/11 cm and can be completed as a small project in just an evening or so, making them perfect for knitters looking to use up scraps of yarn that you may have lying around!
The butterflies have been expertly knitted flat, incorporating some intarsia techniques, using 1.25 mm double pointed needles and a lace-gauged yarn. If you prefer to work with a heavier yarn, that's entirely possible too; your butterflies will simply turn out slightly larger! The passion flower is a bit more complex, requiring partial knitting in the round with an i-cord, adding an extra challenge for adventurous knitters.
These charming butterflies can be attached to just about anything, serving as delightful embellishments to your knitted garments or home decor. Alternatively, why not start your very own butterfly collection? There are many more captivating patterns available that are sure to inspire your creativity and expand your collection even further!
