Anna's Shawl
This beautiful shawl was created as a heartfelt gift for my best friend, Anna, who is an avid knitter and lover of all things cozy and stylish. After searching high and low for the perfect shawl pattern, I decided to take matters into my own hands and design a stunning shawl specifically tailored for her. The end result is a unique piece that captures Anna's personality and preferences beautifully.
The shawl begins with a lush base of Rowan Felted Tweed yarn, which is her all-time favorite due to its incredible softness and warm texture. The primary color choice for this shawl is green—an homage to Anna’s love for this vibrant hue, as I can’t recall a time when she wasn’t sporting her signature color. This shawl is designed to be generously large because, as Anna always says, “When it comes to shawls, it’s go big or go home!”
Since receiving her custom shawl, Anna has hardly been seen without it, and it brings her so much joy and comfort. It’s wonderful to see how much a thoughtfully crafted piece can mean to someone you care about, and I’m thrilled to share this experience with fellow knitting enthusiasts.
In the spirit of spreading the love, I wanted to share this pattern with the Ravelry community. I hope that you all find as much enjoyment in knitting this shawl as Anna and I do! Creating this shawl involved using Rowan Felted Tweed, which comes in a convenient 175m/50g size and is classified as Sport/DK weight. For the main body of the shawl, I used 3 balls of the main color, then added one ball each of five contrasting colors to give it a captivating and dynamic appearance.
You’ll need 4.5mm (US 7) knitting needles to create this masterpiece. The shawl features a gauge of 20 stitches and 26 rows to measure 10cm/4 inches in Stocking Stitch after blocking, ensuring that it has a lovely drape and finish.
