Ardys
Introducing a beautifully fitted vest that showcases a chic open front design, featuring an elegant slipped-stitch cable detail running gracefully down the fronts. This stylish vest works up quickly in cozy Aran weight yarn, making it a perfect project for knitters looking to add a unique piece to their wardrobe. Crafted in one piece from the bottom up, this pattern includes instructions for adding armbands and a collar that are picked up seamlessly. Designed to be worn with about an inch or so of positive ease, the vest ensures the best fit for maximum comfort and style.
The cable stitch used in this pattern is a modified version of a slipped double cable from Barbara Walker’s renowned book - A Treasury of Knitting Patterns. This intricate detail adds a touch of sophistication to your knitting project, making it a fantastic choice for knitters who appreciate texture and design. Additionally, this pattern incorporates techniques such as short rows and the three-needle bind-off for the shoulders, making it an excellent opportunity to enhance your knitting skills.
As a friendly reminder, you will need to know how to pick up wraps for short rows, how to effectively pick up stitches, and how to perform a cable cross to complete this project. This vest pattern is not only practical but also a delightful way to express your creativity through knitting.
This is the second vest in a cherished series named after my incredible aunts. Named Ardys, it honors one of my grandmother’s sisters. Although she was the youngest and lived far away, I always admired her beautiful name and thought of her as a sweet inspiration for this design!
