Aunt Maggie

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and take a class with the incredibly talented Maggie Casey. During our enlightening sessions, she shared a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, but her most impactful piece of advice for spinners resonated with me: "Knit with your handspun." Inspired by this invaluable insight, I designed a unique knitting pattern aimed at encouraging both new and experienced spinners to celebrate their handspun yarns.

This pattern is thoughtfully crafted to motivate novice spinners to create beautiful garments with their own handspun creations, while also urging seasoned spinners to revisit and utilize some of their early handspun treasures that might have been tucked away. Designed with versatility in mind, this pattern accommodates a variety of yarn weights, from Sport to Bulky, making it accessible for different skill levels and yarn preferences.

In creating the samples, I showcased the beauty of my handspun yarn by using some of my earliest attempts (the pink sample) alongside my most recent work (the gray sample). This pattern not only celebrates the journey of spinning but also invites everyone to indulge in the joy of knitting with their own spun yarn, resulting in a truly personal and sentimental piece.
