Baby Charley Cardigan
I am super excited to share my latest knitting design with you! Typically, I don’t like to reveal my work during the early stages of design because it often takes several attempts before I achieve the perfect result. However, I believe it’s always rewarding to approach something familiar in a new and innovative way!
This unique cardigan design was inspired by a blurry photograph of Princess Charlotte’s cardigan from her toddler years. While I didn’t know the specific stitch or the exact details of the original piece, I intentionally chose to use it solely as a source of inspiration. This allows me to create something fresh and original while still evoking that delightful nostalgia.
To kick off the process, I crafted a tension square to ensure the fit is just right. I then sketched a rough design concept that would capture the essence of what I envisioned. Based on my tension square and the stitch repeat, I calculated the number of stitches required to cast on, ensuring that everything aligns perfectly for a fantastic end result.
Moreover, this design is a direct response to the requests from fellow knitters who have visited my studio seeking charming 4 ply baby cardigans. So, in response to those inquiries, here it is! The cardigan is expertly knitted in one piece up until the armholes, making it not only a beautiful piece but also a delightful and simple project for knitters of all levels.
Join me in this exciting journey of knitting creativity and explore your own inspiration! With this pattern, you'll be able to create a stunning baby cardigan that’s perfect for any little one. Whether you’re knitting for a gift or for your own child, this design promises to be both practical and stylish. Dive into this knitting adventure today!
