Baby Leaf Yoke Cardigan
To purchase both the Adult and Baby versions of this charming design, go [HERE][1].
In my quest to create adorable knitwear, I reworked my popular [Leaf Yoke Cardi/Vest][2] and conceptualized a delightful baby version featuring a smaller leaf pattern for the yoke. This quick-knit project is perfect for crafting unique baby garments that will keep your little ones cozy and stylish.
Available Sizes: 0-3 Months (approximately 17"), 6-9 Months (around 19"), 12-18 Months (about 21"), and 2-3 Years (approximately 23").
For the 0-3 Months size, use a size 4 needle and aim for a gauge of 5.5 stitches per inch. The 6-9 Months size requires a size 6 needle with a gauge of 5 stitches per inch.
For the 12-18 Months size, opt for a size 7 needle, targeting a gauge of 4.5 stitches per inch. Finally, the 2-3 Years size calls for a size 8 needle, working to a gauge of 4 stitches per inch. This thoughtful sizing ensures that every baby stays comfortably snug in this lovely knit.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Gather 200 (225-250-275) yards of DK or Worsted Weight yarn for this adorable baby cardigan. For the two smallest sizes, I recommend using Sport weight or DK yarn for a lighter feel; however, for the 12-18 Months and 2-3 Years sizes, stick with Worsted weight for optimal warmth and durability.
You’ll also need a 20-inch circular needle: size 4 (3.50 mm) for the 0-3 Months size, size 6 (4.00 mm) for the 6-9 Months size, and suitable sizes for the older age ranges following the pattern instructions to ensure a perfect fit. Crafting this baby version of the Leaf Yoke Cardi/Vest not only enhances your knitting skills but also results in a delightful garment that would make an excellent gift for newborns and toddlers alike!
