Ballerina baby sweater
This beautifully designed top-down knitted baby sweater features charming raglan sleeves and requires no seams, making it a perfect project for both novice and experienced knitters. The knitting process begins flat (back and forth) before being joined in the round, ensuring a seamless finish. To make dressing your little one a breeze, part of the back is open, which adds to the sweater's practicality. For an adorable touch, I've sewn on a small button and crafted a chain using a crochet hook for fastening; however, you can easily substitute these with a lovely satin ribbon if you prefer a different aesthetic. The sweater is adorned with tiny, cute frills at the bottom and showcases delicate knitted lace underneath, creating a sweet and stylish look for babies.
SIZES: Available in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, and 12-18 months.
MATERIALS: To create this adorable sweater, you'll need Mint premium acrylic DK yarn, which comes in 100 g skeins with a length of 300 m per skein. Depending on the sweater size you choose, you will require 1 to 2 skeins (300 - 600 m) of yarn. Additionally, a single skein of diamond mohair or any similarly textured mohair in a peachy-pinkish shade will enhance the softness and overall look of the garment.
Knitting Gauge: For this project, maintain a gauge of 22 stitches and 30 rows to achieve a 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) swatch in stocking stitch, which involves knitting a row on the right side and purling on the wrong side, using 4 mm needles.
Needles: You will need 1 x 4 mm (US 6) (UK 8) long circular needles for the magic loop method or short circular needles for the body section. Additionally, 1 x 4 mm (US 6) (UK 8) double-pointed needles (DPNs) will be required for knitting the sleeves.
This simple yet elegant baby sweater pattern is an excellent choice for creating a special gift or a treasured keepsake for the little ones in your life. Whether you're knitting for your own child or making something heartfelt for friends and family, this pattern is sure to delight!
