Banza - knitting pattern

Banza

$5.25

Introducing the **Banza** – one of the historical names for the beloved banjo! Other variations include banjar, bangie, bangoe, and banshaw, all of which highlight the cultural significance and evolution of this delightful instrument.

The Banza knitting pattern is available in two sizes, ensuring a comfortable fit for a range of wearers. The smaller size is ideal for most older teens and adult women, while the larger size works perfectly for men's head sizes up to 24 inches. Note that the ribbing is designed in a unique 4x2 rib pattern. Unlike the traditional 2x2 rib, this style does not offer the same amount of elasticity, meaning it doesn't snugly conform to the head as tightly. Consequently, the relaxed fit of 16.5 inches can comfortably accommodate head sizes ranging from 19 to 22.5 inches.

If you're feeling uncertain about the fit provided by the 4x2 ribbing, don't worry! You have the option to modify the pattern. To do so, simply cast on 140 (or 160) stitches and work in a classic 2x2 ribbing (knit 2, purl 2) for the first 2 inches. After completing the ribbing, you can transition into the main pattern by following from round 2 of the provided written and charted instructions. However, please keep in mind that the stitch pattern may not blend seamlessly with the ribbing as shown in the pattern photos, altering the overall aesthetic slightly.

The Banza hat in the larger size utilized 78 grams of Jig DK yarn, which is roughly equivalent to 180 yards. This makes it an excellent choice for knitters looking to create a stylish yet practical accessory. Whether you're making it for yourself or gifting it to a friend, the Banza hat pattern combines tradition with modern knitting techniques, ensuring a functional and fashionable result.

Experience the joy of knitting with the Banza pattern today and add a touch of musical charm to your wardrobe!
