Basket Weave Bag
Introducing the Basket Weave Bag knitting pattern—a stylish and functional accessory for your collection! This unique bag is created by skillfully knitting the straps and handle in the round before separating them from the bag's body. You’ll continue working in the round until you reach the bottom, then complete the finishing touches with a three-needle bind-off technique on the wrong side for a polished look.
For visual learners, I'm excited to share that you can find a comprehensive tutorial video for creating beautiful Macramé accessories on my Instagram: @irenelin1125. Be sure to check it out for step-by-step guidance!
Gauge: Achieve an accurate fit with a gauge of 20 stitches and 27 rows, resulting in a 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” square in stockinette stitch after blocking. Proper gauge is essential for ensuring your finished bag retains its shape and size.
Sizes: This Basket Weave Bag pattern comes in three sizes: Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L), making it versatile for a variety of needs.
Finished Measurements: - Length of Straps/Handle: 14 (40, 43) cm / 5.5 (15.7, 16.9)” - Width: 29 (33, 37) cm / 11.4 (13, 14.6)” - Height: 28 (37, 41) cm / 11 (14.6, 16.1)”
Yarn Requirements: For this project, I recommend using Stitch & Story's Secret Garden yarn, which is composed of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. Each ball offers 218 yards / 200 m / 100g. Depending on the size you choose, you will need 1 (1.5, 2) balls, amounting to approximately 200 (300, 400) meters of yarn.
Recommended Needles: Utilize size 4mm (US 6) needles to achieve the best results.
Other Materials: Don't forget to gather your knitting supplies! You'll need stitch markers for your project and some waste yarn to assist with the handle section.
