Basketcase Mitts
Introducing the second mitt in the Plucktember Mystery Mitts Subscription Series! Be sure to mark your calendars for the release of the next pair on September 15th! We invite you to join the exciting KAL (Knit-A-Long) in the Designer Duo thread, where you can share your progress and connect with fellow knitters!
Finished Size
The mitts are designed to fit wrist circumferences of 7 (8) inches and stand 11 inches tall, making them a comfortable and stylish accessory.
Yarn
For this project, we recommend using The Plucky Knitter Traveler Aran yarn, which is a luxurious blend of 65% merino, 20% silk, and 15% yak. Each skein contains 220 yards (115 grams) of soft, warm fibers. You'll need just 1 skein in the beautiful colorway "Smokey the Bear." Expect to use approximately 150 (170) yards for this pattern.
Needles
You will need a set of double-pointed needles (dpns) in two sizes: Size 7 (4.5mm) dpns for the main stitches and Size 10½ (6.5mm) dpns for the larger woven pattern. Be sure to adjust your needle size as needed to achieve the correct gauge for this project.
Notions
To complete this mitt project, gather your essential notions: stitch markers, a cable needle, and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge
The gauge for this pattern is 25½ stitches and 24 rows equal 4 inches in the woven pattern when using the larger needles. Achieving the correct gauge is crucial for ensuring that your finished mitts fit properly.
Don't forget, if you’re also searching for the perfect matching cowl, check out the Basketcase pattern, which complements these exquisite mitts beautifully!
