Battle Lines Mittens
In 2020, I sewed almost 700 face masks for the Masks for the Frontlines Iowa Facebook group and numerous individuals in need. These face masks provided essential protection to medical workers, teachers, school children, family, and friends during a challenging time.
Each batch of masks was carefully lined up, and a photo was taken to showcase the total number completed. We had clearly drawn our “battle lines” in the collective effort to combat the spread of COVID-19. The intricate Latvian designs adorning the cuffs of these mittens evoke memories of those organized rows of finished masks, symbolizing our resilience and creativity in such difficult times.
Introducing our cozy and stylish mittens and fingerless mitts, designed with a stranded cuff that beautifully coordinates with the popular Battle Lines Hat pattern. These mittens feature a plain stockinette hand for a quick and straightforward finish, making them perfect for both beginners and experienced knitters alike. For the fingerless mitts, we've added contrast color accents at the top of the hand and thumb to create a striking visual appeal.
Craft these delightful hand warmers using your favorite bulky weight yarn to ensure your hands stay toasty warm in the coldest of weather. Not only do these mittens blend functionality with aesthetic charm, but they also serve as a heartfelt reminder of community spirit during a time of adversity.
