Perfect for Speckled Yarn! This pattern is especially designed to showcase the vibrant colors in speckled yarn, ensuring that your finished shawl will be as eye-catching as it is cozy.
Materials Needed
To create the Bawa shawl, you will need approximately 200 grams (800 yards / 732 meters) of Light Fingering Yarn. The sample shown in the images is made with 185 grams of Merino Single by Qing Fibre, a luxurious Light Fingering weight yarn composed of 100% Merino wool with a fantastic yardage of 366 meters (400 yards) per 100 grams in the stunning colorway: Panda.
You'll also require one US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needle (or the size needed to achieve your desired gauge), ideally 32 inches (80 cm) or longer to accommodate the large number of stitches you'll be working with. Don’t forget your essential knitting accessories: stitch markers and a tapestry needle for weaving in those ends!
Gauge
To ensure your shawl turns out perfectly, aim for a gauge of 24 stitches x 34 rows, measuring 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch after blocking. Achieving the correct gauge is crucial for getting the right size and drape in your final piece.
Finished Size After Blocking
After blocking, the Bawa shawl will measure an impressive wingspan of 200 cm (80 inches) and a depth of 50 cm (20 inches), making it a wonderful wrap for any occasion, whether casual or formal.
This pattern includes detailed written instructions and does not feature any charts, allowing knitters to follow along easily from start to finish.
