Beautiful BC Cowl
Introducing the stunning stranded colorwork cowl, inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of my beautiful province of British Columbia. This cozy cowl, designed specifically for DK weight yarn, is a proud addition to my Beautiful BC collection, launching this winter. The pattern offers two distinct ribbing options to enhance your knitting experience and customize your piece.
Finished Measurements: The cowl boasts a comfortable 23” (58.5cm) unstretched circumference and a height of 11” (28cm), perfect for keeping you warm during chilly weather. Please note that all measurements are taken after blocking to ensure accuracy and the best fit.
Yarn Requirements: For this project, we recommend Brooklyn Tweed Dapple, a luxurious blend of 60% Merino and 40% Organic Cotton. Each 50g skein provides 165 yards (151 meters) of soft, breathable yarn. For this design, you will need:
- Main Color (MC) – Natural: Approximately 159 yards (145m), 48g
- Contrast Color (CC) – Seafoam: Approximately 119 yards (109m), 36g
Feel free to substitute with any other DK weight yarn that meets your gauge.
Gauge: Achieve a precise gauge of 25 stitches and 31 rounds = 4” (10cm) in circular colorwork using larger needles (after blocking). Ensuring accurate gauge is crucial for the successful completion of your cowl.
Needles: You will need US size 4 (3.5mm) and US size 6 (4mm), with a 16-20” (40-50 cm) long circular needle or sizes needed to reach your desired gauge. Make sure to have the proper tools on hand to create a beautifully crafted piece.
Notions: Gather your essential knitting supplies such as a tapestry needle and stitch markers to help you keep track of your progress and neatly weave in ends.
Instructions: The pattern comes with a detailed chart for easy reference, plus video tutorial links for both the cast-on and bind-off techniques to guide you every step of the way.
