Yarn Requirements: This pattern calls for Medium Weight yarn (also known as Worsted, size #4) in a beautiful selection of seven colors for the outer mitten. Additionally, you will need Medium Weight Fluffy yarn (size #4), similar to Red Heart Fleece Hugs, for the cozy lining. You will need approximately 200 yards of Navy for the lining to ensure warmth and comfort on chilly days.
Gauge Information: To achieve the perfect fit for your mittens, please pay attention to the following gauge measurements. Using US 3 needles, aim for 20 stitches x 30 rows, which should measure 4” in Stockinette Stitch. If you prefer Garter Stitch, use US 6 needles to get 20 stitches = 4” (row gauge is not crucial for this project). For a slightly different texture, you can use US 8 needles to achieve a gauge of 15 stitches x 20 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch.
This knitting pattern is designed to help you create a wonderfully warm pair of mittens that are not only functional but also stylish. With the right yarn and attention to gauge, you can craft a treasured accessory for yourself or a loved one. Happy knitting!
