Big Woods Shawl

To complete this exquisite design, the shawl is finished with a knit-on lace border, adding an extra touch of sophistication.

If you're considering substituting the yarn, we recommend choosing a light DK or sport-weight yarn with a weight of approximately 300 yards per 100 grams, ensuring it has a lovely drape and excellent blocking capabilities. To knit this shawl as outlined in the pattern, you'll need between 525 and 575 yards of your chosen yarn to achieve the best results and showcase the beautiful stitch work.

This shawl design is inspired by one of my favorite childhood book series, the Laura Ingalls Wilder collection, which begins with "Little House in the Big Woods." The shawl intricately features lace patterning with charming tree motifs, an inviting “9-Patch Quilt” section, and a classic lace border pattern that harkens back to the mid-19th century knitting traditions.
