Binary Code Lord's Prayer Scarf
Introduction:
This beautifully crafted scarf has been thoughtfully designed as a prayer scarf for a confirmand in our church’s upcoming confirmation. It features the Lord’s Prayer encoded in binary code, where knits represent 0s and purls symbolize 1s, creating a unique and meaningful pattern. Additionally, the scarf showcases three elegant crosses made of fish, prominently displayed throughout its length. To finish, a cozy garter stitch border surrounds the entire scarf, providing a polished look. This pattern is versatile, containing both detailed written instructions and handy charted instructions, allowing you to choose your preferred knitting method.
Materials:
For this lovely prayer scarf, you will need 225 yards (205 grams) of worsted weight yarn. We recommend using Knitpicks Upcycled Alpaca yarn, knitted double held, which means using two strands held together as one for a thicker, warmer finish.
*Note: Double held means 2 strands held together and knit as 1.
You will also need a set of US size 9 (5.5mm) knitting needles to achieve the perfect gauge.
Gauge:
To ensure your scarf fits perfectly, aim for a gauge of 14 stitches by 21 rows to create a 4” by 4” square in stockinette stitch, blocked appropriately for the best results.
Finished Dimensions:
Your finished prayer scarf will measure an impressive 55” long by 9” wide, making it a perfect accessory for warmth and a thoughtful gift for loved ones.
