Bobby's Grandma's Bouclé & Companion Wristwarmers
Welcome to my treasure trove of knitting inspiration! Among my vast hoard of yarn, I have some delightful snippets of very old wool, lovingly passed down from my Grandma. One standout is the stunning lavender pebble-dashed bouclé that you see here, a beautiful material that must be at least fifty years old. It’s truly a gem in my collection, and I'm so glad I chose to hang on to it!
With the remnants of my Fair Isle Thistle Wristwarmers and Tam o’Shanter, I crafted a charming pair of wristwarmers. Originally, my goal was to see how far I could extend the use of those ten balls of Jamieson’s Spindrift, but I ended up delightfully distracted by my Grandma's luxurious bouclé yarn. Now, I can proudly say I've successfully designed both pairs!
These wristwarmers are one size but can easily be upsized by simply using larger needles for a looser fit. The second pair, crafted from Jamieson's Spindrift, features a slightly longer design. I love wearing both pairs under my longer, thumb-less wristwarmers for that extra layer of coziness and snugness. You can choose your own adventure in styling with these versatile accessories! Both detailed stitch charts are provided for your convenience.
As an added bonus, I’ve included a black and white chart which allows you to experiment freely with your own color choices, adding a personalized touch to your creations. The flat measurements of each pair (below the thumb gussett) are as follows: Grandma's bouclé measures 9.5 cm in width and 12 cm in length, while the Spindrift variant measures 9.5 cm wide and 13.5 cm long.
