Boulder Beanie
Learn how to loom knit a unique and stylish hat that will elevate your knitting skills and make you look like an expert loom knitter! This engaging project is designed for advanced beginners and is equally enjoyable to knit and wear. The Boulder Beanie features a striking transverse herringbone stitch pattern, created using a “Slip 1, Working Yarn in Front” technique. While this stitch may seem daunting at first, don't worry! By watching my "Slip Working Yarn in Front Hack for Loom Knitters" video on the DaynaScolesDesigns YouTube channel, you’ll discover just how quick and easy this technique can be to master.
The Boulder Beanie is perfect for anyone using a 3/8” gauge round loom, such as the All N One, Knitting Board’s Hat Loom, or Knitting Board’s new premium round loom. This whimsical hat requires approximately 200 yards of worsted weight yarn: 180 yards in your chosen main color and 20 yards for a contrasting color to add a pop of flair. For the sample hat, I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in the beautiful Sea Blue colorway for the main body and a vibrant Mango colorway for the contrasting details, resulting in a stunning and eye-catching finished product.
Whether you're knitting for yourself or as a gift, this beanie is an excellent project to showcase your loom knitting abilities. So grab your loom, your favorite worsted weight yarn, and get ready to enjoy the creative process of making the Boulder Beanie—a hat that combines fun, fashion, and a touch of expert craftsmanship!
