Do you have that one special skein of indie-dyed yarn lying around, waiting for the perfect knitting pattern to truly showcase its beauty? Look no further! The Brushstroke Cowl might just be the ideal pattern for you!

The Brushstroke Cowl pairs beautifully with my other design, the Brushstroke Hat, both specifically crafted to highlight stunning hand-painted and variegated colorways. These patterns beautifully incorporate two of my favorite texture stitches—brioche and herringbone—making your project not only visually captivating but also incredibly enjoyable to knit.

This cowl pattern is versatile and can be knit using just one skein of fingering weight yarn (4 ply) held double or a single strand of DK weight yarn (8 ply). Perfect for showcasing that special indie-dyed yarn, this cowl offers a unique blend of textures that will elevate your knitting game.

Needles: 3.75 mm/US size 5 circular needle (50-60 cm long) & 8 mm/US size 11 circular needle (50-60 cm long).

Notions: Removable stitch markers & tapestry needle for seamless finishing.

Yarn: Fingering weight yarn (4 ply) held double. Quantity needed: approximately 350-400 meters / 380-437 yards total. Choose your favorite hand-dyed shade and let the colors shine!

Finished Size: The completed Brushstroke Cowl measures approximately 20 inches / 51 cm in circumference at the top (brioche section) and stands about 8.5 inches / 21.5 cm tall, making it a cozy accessory for any season.
