Cable hat
Discover the magic of knitting with my first-ever hat pattern! This pattern has been a favorite of mine, resulting in the creation of countless stylish hats. It's a one-ball project, perfect for both beginner and seasoned knitters who want to practice their cable technique while making a cozy accessory.
SIZE:
This pattern is designed for adults in small to medium sizes, specifically to fit a head circumference of 21-22 inches (54-56 cm). The finished hat measures approximately 8.4 inches (21 cm) in length from the brim to the top, making it a snug and warm fit for chilly days.
MATERIALS:
Yarn: You will need just 1 skein of Rowan Pure Wool Aran (suggested) weighing 100 grams. For this project, you’ll use around 150-160 yards (137-146 meters or 80-86 grams) of yarn. Feel free to substitute with any Aran or Worsted weight yarn that you love!
Needles and Notions: For this project, gather your tools: US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) 16-inch (40 cm) or 20-inch (50 cm) circular needles, along with US 7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles (optional) for seamless finishing. Don’t forget your stitch marker, cable needle, and tapestry needle to complete the project beautifully.
GAUGE:
Ensure your knitting gauge is correct by achieving 21 stitches x 32 rows with the larger needles, creating a 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) swatch in the cable pattern. Proper gauge is essential for a well-fitting hat!
