Canyon Road
Canyon Road is a stunning knitting pattern inspired by the picturesque Canyon Road in Santa Fe, renowned for its beautiful sculpture gardens and galleries filled with New Mexican art. This unique design captures the essence of the Southwest, where rich culture and vibrant creativity converge.
Background on the inspiration: During my time working and living in New Mexico, a dear patient gifted me a small Acoma pot from the pueblo. This beautiful piece has adorned my dressing table for years, its intricate black and white patterns inspiring the design of this cozy sweater. Although my current home is Rhode Island, the memories and allure of the Southwest continue to resonate deeply within me. (Please note that my sample is longer to accommodate my torso length, but you can easily customize this pattern to your desired length!)
The "Canyon Road" sweater is designed with 2 inches of positive ease, providing a comfortable and relaxed fit perfect for any occasion. The design features two elegant lace panels that artfully separate areas of stranded knitting, resulting in a unique yoke adorned with whimsical scalloped accents. This pattern is not only visually stunning but also fairly quick to knit, making it a gratifying project for knitters of various skill levels. The subtle side seams enhance the casual aesthetic of the sweater, allowing for effortless wear.
The main sample is beautifully crafted using Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere. The Main Color (A) is complemented by Jocelyn Lace panels (B) in Whetstone (a delightful speckled gray) and accented with Charcoal Gray (C) and Black Pearl hues. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or just starting your journey, the "Canyon Road" pattern invites you to create a piece that embodies the beauty and artistry of New Mexico. Embrace the spirit of the Southwest in your next knitting project!
