Cardigan Dagi
Steekable Pattern Also Available!
Introducing the “Dagi” Cardigan – A beautiful blend of style and technique! This cardigan was originally designed by me several years ago, with a focus on making Fair-Isle knitting accessible to both beginners and experienced knitters alike. My goal was to create an easy yet stunning colorwork pattern that provides a gentle introduction to the world of color knitting without the immediate challenge of steeking. After extensive testing and refinement, I’m thrilled to share a pattern that perfectly balances aesthetics with simplicity.
The “Dagi” Cardigan features unique stranded colorwork that keeps the knitter engaged while still being manageable for those who may be starting their Fair-Isle journey. My greatest challenge in developing this pattern was achieving a harmonious gauge between the intricate colorwork and plain knit stitches. After several iterations, I found that the top-down construction not only enhances the fit but also makes the knitting process enjoyable and straightforward. I’ve personally knitted this cardigan multiple times, and I can confidently say that it has become a cherished staple in my wardrobe. I'm excited for you to experience that same joy!
General Information on Construction: This stunning cardigan is constructed using a top-down design that allows for easy adjustments as you knit. The body is crafted in a back-and-forth method, while the sleeves are knitted seamlessly in the round for a clean finish. The design incorporates a slightly positive ease, providing a relaxed fit with a maximum of 5 cm/1-2” of optional body shaping for added sophistication and comfort.
Knitting Techniques Utilized: This pattern embraces top-down construction techniques alongside beautiful stranded colorwork, utilizing two colors per round to create a rich, dynamic visual effect. Whether you are a seasoned knitter or just stepping into the exciting realm of Fair-Isle knitting, this pattern serves as a perfect bridge to more advanced techniques like steeking.
