Cardoon
Introducing the Cardoon Knit Sweater Pattern, expertly crafted to be worked seamlessly from the top down! This stylish design features a unique neck shaping technique, where short rows are skillfully employed to create a higher back neck, ensuring a flattering fit. After completing the neck shaping, the yoke of the sweater is then worked in the round until the sleeve separation, allowing for a smooth transition into the body of the garment.
Once the sleeve stitches are placed on hold, you can easily focus on crafting the body from the top down. After finishing the body, the sleeves are also knitted top down to the cuffs, ensuring consistency throughout your project. For a polished finish, an optional neck finishing technique is recommended to complete the look.
To ensure the best results, pay close attention to the gauge: 20 stitches x 28 rows equals a 4-inch (10 cm) square in Stockinette stitch on the larger needle after blocking. In the sample, we've allowed for 4 inches (10 cm) of positive ease at the bust, making this sweater both comfortable and stylish.
The original yarn used for the Cardoon is the exquisite HappyGoKnitty Merpaca, chosen for its softness and warmth. However, we also provide delightful alternative yarn suggestions below, so you can customize your own unique sweater.
