This hat is not only fun and easy to knit, but it also incorporates a simple yet beautiful lace pattern—allowing the bottom layer to show through and create a stunning effect. With the Cassiopeia Hat, you can effortlessly play with two different colors without the complexities of tricky colorwork. Thanks to its unique construction method, there’s no need for traditional ribbing, making it a unique addition to your knitting repertoire. With only around 100 yards of yarn needed for each color, this project is a fantastic stash buster!
Yarn Requirements: For this knitting pattern, you will need worsted weight yarn. Approximately 110 yards of the main color and about 95 yards of the contrast color will suffice. I personally used Quince & Co. Lark in the charming shades of Frank's Plum and Iceland for a delightful color combination.
Needles: To knit the Cassiopeia Hat, you will require US 8, 16” circular needles (5.0 mm, 40 cm) and US 8 DPNs (5.0 mm) for seamless knitting.
Gauge: The ideal gauge for this pattern is 18 stitches and 28 rows per 4” in stockinette stitch to ensure a perfect fit.
Finished Measurements: This fabulous hat is designed for an adult medium size with a circumference of 18.5”. For a snug fit, we recommend a 3-4” negative ease.
