Cavanaugh Hat
Introducing our beautifully crafted Aran style cabled beanie, specifically designed for my fiancé of the Cavanaugh clan. This intricate cable pattern is available in both charted and written formats, making it accessible for knitters of all skill levels.
Size Information: This beanie is designed to fit teen and small adult sizes, with additional options for medium and large adults. The approximate finished circumference measurements are as follows: 19 inches (48 cm) for Teen, 21 inches (53 cm) for Small Adult, and 23 inches (59 cm) for Large Adult. The hat featured in the photo showcases the Medium Adult size for reference.
Materials Needed: To ensure you have enough yarn for your beautiful cabled creation, we recommend a 10% buffer on all yardages. You will need 200 yards (183 meters) for Teen, 231 yards (211 meters) for Small Adult, and 275 yards (250 meters) for Medium and Large Adult sizes. Please use dk or light worsted weight yarn for the best results.
Recommended Needles:
- US Size 5 (3.75mm) and 7 (4.5mm) 16-inch (41 cm) circular knitting needles for the body of the hat.
- US Size 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed knitting needles for the crown decreases.
Essential Notions:
- Cable needle for creating stunning cable designs.
- 1 stitch marker to keep track of your rounds.
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
- Scissors for cutting your yarn.
Gauge Information: To achieve the perfect fit, aim for a gauge of 20 stitches and 28 rounds per 4 inches in stockinette stitch on US Size 7 (4.5mm) knitting needle after blocking. For the cable pattern specifically, you should have 48 stitches equal to 7 ½ inches after blocking, allowing for that cozy, snug finish.
This Aran style cabled beanie is not just a practical piece for chilly weather; it also makes for a heartfelt, handmade gift for anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship and the warmth of love. Dive into this delightful knitting project and create a beautiful accessory that celebrates both your craft and your connection to the Cavanaugh clan!
