From about fifth grade onward, I cherished spending a week or two every summer at camp, immersing myself in creativity and self-expression. Camp was not just a break from routine; it was a place to explore my artistic side, especially in the arts and crafts hut. Here, I engaged in various creative activities like sewing, weaving, and spinning. Some of my favorite projects included popsicle-hut building, leaf collages, and, most importantly, crafting intricate friendship bracelets.

Every night, the entire camp community would come together in a heartwarming tradition, forming a circle around the peace pole. We would join hands and sing together, “Shalom, chaverim, shalom, chaverim, shalom, shalom,” which translates to “Peace, my friends, peace, my friends, peace, peace.” This beautiful moment fostered a sense of harmony and friendship that I still treasure today.
