Christmas Ornaminks
Everyone adores a festive Christmas sock! These enchanting socks feature delightful cabled baubles elegantly positioned down the front, complemented by cozy ribbing around the back for a snug fit. A heartwarming memory arises from my son’s childhood when he charmingly referred to ornaments as ‘ornaminks’. This pattern is versatile, as it also includes instructions for a cozy shortie sock option, perfect for holiday lounging.
Finished Size: Designed to fit a range of sizes: S (M, L) [7” (8”, 9” around), unstretched]. These Christmas socks are perfect for spreading holiday cheer!
Yarn: You will need Savvy Skeins Sensible yarn, which is composed of 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Nylon, offering both warmth and durability. With a yardage of 420 yards per 100g skein, the sample was knitted in a festive Mistletoe (contrast) and a lively Tree Hugs colorway. For the medium size, you'll require approximately 20g/80 yards of the contrast color to bring your socks to life.
Needles: To create these delightful Christmas socks, gather a set of 5 double-pointed needles or opt for two circular needles in size 1.5 US (2.5 mm). Remember, it’s essential to use the size that allows you to achieve the desired gauge, as each knitter's tension differs!
Gauge: Aim for a gauge of 8 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch, knitted in the round. Achieving the correct gauge ensures a perfect fit for your holiday-themed socks.
Knitting these festive Christmas socks is a delightful way to celebrate the season and create cherished gifts for family and friends. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or just starting, this pattern is sure to become a staple in your holiday crafting repertoire!
