Chrysanthemum Throw - knitting pattern

Chrysanthemum Throw

$3.63

Some knitting designs come more easily than others. For weeks, I envisioned a stunning lattice pattern featuring elongated diamonds, each uniquely surrounded by vibrant, contrasting colors. However, deciding on the best technique to bring this vision to life posed a challenge. Using Fair Isle would result in a fabric that feels too heavy, while intarsia would require juggling too many bobbins, making it an incredibly unpleasant knitting experience!

Ultimately, I settled on creating a solid stockinette fabric that captures the essence of the elongated diamonds without overwhelming complexity. The individual cells are ingeniously crafted through a combination of increases and decreases, all surrounded by delicate twisted stitches. This thoughtful interplay of twisted stitches creates a deliberate ladder-like effect between the cells, adding texture and interest. Once the base fabric is complete, it undergoes a firm blocking to achieve the perfect shape. Then comes the fun part: embellishing the piece with a contrasting color using surface crochet. As I worked through this decoration, I realized that my elongated diamonds took on a floral quality—very reminiscent of “chrysanthemum” flowers.

This design effectively showcases my Chrysanthemum fabric to create a cozy and stylish round throw. It's made using the sumptuous Knit Picks Biggo, a plush blend that adds warmth and comfort to any living space. Whether draping it over your couch or using it as a soft accent on your bed, this throw is not only functional but also a beautiful piece of art. Perfect for knitters looking to expand their skills while creating a striking, eye-catching item for their home, this pattern combines both creativity and practicality, making it a must-have for your next knitting project.
