To knit this vest, you'll need a chunky weight yarn, with yardage requirements of 550 (600, 600, 650, 700, 750) yards / 503 (549, 549, 594, 640, 686) meters. For the zipper closure, a separating zipper measuring 14 (14, 14, 14, 16, 16)” / 35.5 (35.5, 35.5, 35.5, 40.5, 40.5) cm is required. Gather your tools: you’ll need knitting needles, thread, and optionally a sewing machine, as well as stitch markers and stitch holders to aid your crafting process.
When it comes to knitting needles, opt for US 10 (6mm) circular needles with a desired length between 28-40” / 70-100 cm, along with double-pointed needles or any size needed to achieve the perfect gauge. The required gauge for this vest is 12 stitches and 20 rows per 4” / 10 cm in stockinette, ensuring a beautiful finished product.
Important note: Don't forget to check the errata (V3) for the correct body division! The back count should read: k 42 (48, 54, 60, 62, 68) sts to ensure you get the perfect fit.
