City Limits
Suggested Ease: For the perfect fit, we recommend opting for 4-6” of positive ease in your design. This recommendation offers flexibility, allowing you to adjust based on your personal comfort and style preferences. However, please keep in mind that if you decide to knit a size with less than 4” of ease, you may need to extend the length of your sleeves beyond what is directed in the pattern. For optimal comfort and mobility, I do not advise choosing less than 2” of ease, as drop shoulder sweaters rely on that ease to provide the necessary arm movement.
Required Skills: To successfully complete this pattern, you should be familiar with knitting techniques such as long tail cast on, knitting in the round, executing simple lace patterns, creating small cables, performing a three-needle bind off, and picking up stitches. These skills will ensure that you can follow along without any hitches!
A Note about Yarn Substitution: If you’re considering yarn substitution, many of my test knitters successfully used sport weight yarn and were able to achieve the correct gauge. I recommend selecting a heavier sport weight or a lighter DK weight yarn when knitting the City Limits sweater. This choice of yarn will not only help you maintain gauge but also provide the desired drape and structure of your finished piece.
By taking these factors into account, you'll be equipped to create a beautiful sweater that fits well and showcases your knitting skills. Happy knitting!
