Color-Blocked-and-Seamed Scarf
Introducing a stunning 5-color blocked garter stitch scarf, crafted from the center out and featuring innovative short rows. This unique design allows you to combine vibrant hues while ensuring a cozy wrap that’s perfect for any season. Once completed, the two halves of the scarf are seamlessly joined in the middle using a crochet hook, resulting in a beautifully finished piece. To enhance the richness of the colors, you will hold two strands of each color together while knitting the scarf, adding depth and texture to your project.
This scarf is designed to be versatile, and you can choose from Sock/Fingering Weight yarns or opt for single strands of DK or Worsted Weight yarns for a more substantial, warmer scarf. This makes it a fantastic choice for both elegant spring outings and colder winter days!
Materials: For this project, we recommend using Sock/Fingering Weight Yarn. Our favorite choice is Wonderland Yarns “Cheshire Cat,” made from 100% superwash merino. You will be using the captivating colors from the Gyre and Gimble collection.
Requirement: You will need 2 Mini-skein packs of 5 coordinating colors. Each pack should contain the same colors, totaling 128 yards per 1 oz skein. In total, you'll require 10 skeins, equating to a generous 1280 yards of gorgeous yarn.
Needle Size: We recommend using US 5/3.75mm 24” (61cm) circular needles to achieve the desired drape and flow in your fabric.
Gauge: The ideal gauge for this project is 22 stitches and 25 rows to 4" when knit using US 5/3.75mm in garter stitch, ensuring that your scarf has the perfect fit and feel.
This scarf not only makes a wonderful accessory for yourself but also serves as an excellent gift for friends and family. Dive into your next knitting adventure with this engaging pattern that combines artistry and functionality!
