Looking for an adorable and versatile knitting project? This cute scarf pattern is not only easy to make, but it can also be customized to fit any child perfectly! Fitting a scarf to a child can be tricky, but a good rule of thumb is to make the scarf the same length as their height. However, individual preferences and how children like to wear their scarves can vary. This scarf is constructed in simple 3.5” (9 cm) segments, allowing you to knit as many or as few segments as needed. Have the lucky recipient try on the scarf as you go for the perfect fit. Et voilà—a cozy accessory that they'll love!

Yarn Requirements: For this project, you'll need worsted weight yarn totaling anywhere from 350 yards (320 meters) for a 36” (91.5 cm) scarf to 675 yards (617 meters) for a longer 72” (183 cm) scarf. You'll use Yarn 1 for the main body of the scarf, which requires 150 yards (137 meters) to 300 yards (274 meters). Yarn 2 adds color and texture, also requiring 150 yards (137 meters) to 300 yards (274 meters). For the finishing touches, you'll need a trim yarn of worsted weight, which calls for an additional 50 yards (46 meters) to 75 yards (69 meters).

This scarf is showcased in the following yarn: Yarn 1: Plymouth Yarn Company, Gina, #0002 and Yarn 2: Plymouth Yarn Company, Gina, #0010. For the trim, use Plymouth Encore Worsted in colorway black (0217).

Needles: You'll need either one set of U.S. 9 (5.5 mm) double-pointed needles (DPNs) or a U.S. 9 (5.5 mm) 24” (61 cm) circular needle for magic loop technique.

Notions Needed: Don’t forget some essential tools such as a locking stitch marker, a U.S. J (6.0 mm) crochet hook, a jumbo or large-eye tapestry needle, and 2 buttons to create adorable eyes on the scarf. These extra details add a fun personality to your knitted creation, making it truly unique!

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced knitter, this simple yet charming scarf project is perfect for creating a heartwarming gift or a delightful accessory for your own child. Start knitting today and watch as your little one lights up with joy wearing this cozy scarf!
