Congruence
Introducing the Congruence Shawl, a beautifully designed accessory that starts with a top-down construction before transitioning to an elegant round work. This fashionable shawl features a delightful mix of stripes and garter ridges at the neckline, leading into a stunning colorwork section adorned with interlocking and mirrored triangles that catch the eye. The shawl finishes off with a charming garter band, making it a versatile piece for any wardrobe. Whether you're an experienced knitter or a passionate beginner, this pattern will guide you through each step with ease.
Yarn Requirements: This project requires DK weight yarn in the following approximate amounts: Main Color (MC): 220 yards (205 meters) and Contrasting Color (CC): 160 yards (140 meters). For the sample, The Lamb & Kid Tod yarn was used (65% Yak / 35% Cashmere, 150 yards / 50 grams), with 2 skeins in the colorway Kitten (MC) and 1 skein in colorway Ladybug (CC). Please note, if you're using Tod, I used almost my entire skein of Ladybug; it's advisable to have an extra skein on hand just in case you're running low!
Gauge: To ensure your shawl turns out perfectly, aim for a gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows per 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch.
Tools Required: You'll need Size 7 (4.5 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needles, or the size needed to meet the specified gauge, along with 4 stitch markers and a tapestry needle to weave in your ends and finish your project beautifully.
Final Measurements: Upon completion, the Congruence Shawl will approximately measure 24 inches (60 cm) from top to tip, with a width of 17.5 inches (45 cm) at its widest point, and a neck circumference of 20 inches (51 cm). This makes it a fantastic accessory that can be worn in various styles, perfect for adding an attractive touch to any outfit.
