Constellate Cowl
About the Pattern: **Constellate** is a beautifully designed cowl pattern that captures the essence of gathering and togetherness. The year 2020 was marked by a pandemic that kept us apart, but in creating this cowl, I express my hope that 2021 will bring brighter days filled with joyful gatherings once more. This pattern is crafted specifically for **fingering weight yarn** and provides both written and charted instructions to cater to different knitting preferences.
Yarn Used for Sample: The sample cowl was made using **1 skein of sport weight yarn**, specifically AVFKW Annapurna, which is a luxurious blend of **80% Superwash Merino** and **20% Cashmere**. This yarn is not only soft but also offers warmth and comfort. The sample cowl utilized approximately **351 yards (102g)** of yarn from a total of **385 yards (112g)**, making it a great choice for your next project.
Needles: You will need **US 4 (3.5 mm)** 16” (40cm) circular needles, or any size that helps you achieve the correct gauge to ensure your cowl turns out just right. Using the appropriate needle size is crucial for achieving the best results in your knitting.
Notions: To complete this project, gather essential notions including **stitch markers**—one contrasting marker for the beginning of the round and 19 optional markers for indicating lace repeats, as well as a **tapestry needle** for weaving in ends and finishing touches.
Gauge: For this pattern, achieve a gauge of **1” (2.5cm) tall by 1.5” (4cm) wide**, which corresponds to **1 lace repeat blocked**. This gauge will help ensure your cowl has the correct dimensions and drape once it's completed.
Finished Measurements: The finished cowl measures **28” (71cm) circumference and 13” (33cm) tall**, making it a versatile accessory perfect for layering and adding a stylish touch to your outfit.
Special Thanks: A heartfelt thank you to my amazing testers: **dbendel**, **CourtneyShea**, and **mrs-turtle**, whose feedback and support helped refine this pattern for all knitters to enjoy.
This **Constellate cowl pattern** is not just a project; it's a celebration of hope and connection through crafting. Start knitting today and look forward to the moments of togetherness that await!
