Finished Measurements: This stylish knitted cap boasts an impressive 18” / 45 cm circumference and a cozy height of 8.5” / 21.5 cm, with the brim elegantly folded in half. Designed with flexibility in mind, this pattern will easily stretch to fit a variety of head sizes.
Yarn Requirements: To create this beautiful hat, you'll need 215 yards / 196 meters of DK weight yarn. For our sample, we used Peace Fleece DK, a luxurious blend of 75% Rambouillet Wool and 25% Mohair; coming in at 350 yards (320 meters) per 113 g skein. We chose the stunning colorway "Kamchatka Seamoss" for a perfect finish. Please note that the white sample shown was made using the now-discontinued Echoview Fiber View Ranger DK.
Gauge Specifications: Ensure your pattern turns out perfectly by checking your gauge: 32 stitches and 32 rounds equal 4” / 10 cm in the intricate cable pattern when using the larger needle. For a classic Stockinette Stitch, you'll need 20 stitches and 32 rounds for an equal measurement of 4” / 10 cm on the larger needle.
Needle Specifications: You will need US 4 (3.5 mm) 16” / 40 cm circular needles, or one size smaller than what you typically use to achieve gauge. Additionally, prepare US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” / 40 cm circular needles and double-pointed needles (DPNs), or opt for a longer circular needle to use the magic loop technique for seamless knitting.
Additional Notions: Don’t forget the essential tools for your knitting project! This pattern requires a cable needle, stitch markers, and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends. For an extra touch of charm, consider adding a faux fur pom pom (optional) to complete your hat’s look.
