Creme de Menthe
When Courtney of Seed Stitch Yarns in Salem, MA, approached me to design a unique pattern for the 2014 North Shore Yarn Crawl, we immediately thought that a shawl would be the ideal project for an early spring weekend in New England. To enhance the local flavor, we decided to incorporate yarn from a talented indie dyer, and Ana Campos of Toil and Trouble emerged as our perfect choice.
Thus, the Creme de Menthe shawl was born. This delicately cozy shawl showcases stunning shades of pale teal and gray—ideal for a late winter day when you crave warmth yet desire a splash of spring color to remind you that brighter days are just around the corner. The sophisticated palette and the inviting texture make it an exceptional addition to any knitwear collection.
Knitting with the lofty single ply of Toil and Trouble's Single Ply Worsted Merino is an absolute dream. The pattern features a delightful combination of stockinette and garter stitch sections, which are simple enough to let the yarn's subtle colors shine through. Elegant lace diamonds adorn the edges of the shawl, adding a touch of intricate beauty and ensuring that the knitting process remains engaging and fun. With its straightforward construction, this piece is also the perfect choice for beginner shawl knitters looking to build their skills.
The Creme de Menthe shawl is not only an enjoyable and quick project, but it also makes for a thoughtful gift or a charming accessory to elevate any outfit. A variety of alternative yarn options are provided as substitutes, allowing you to customize your creation to your personal style. Dive into the world of knitting with this beautiful pattern, and celebrate the arrival of spring with a handmade touch!
