Cromwell
Welcome to the charming neighborhood of Cromwell in Baltimore County, where my lovely husband inspires my creative knitting projects. This beautifully designed cabled sock pattern is specifically crafted for him, featuring an elegant cable that runs the length of the front and gracefully down the back, all the way through the heel flap for added style and comfort.
Finished Size: Small (M, L) [7” (8”, 9” around), unstretched]
Yarn: For this project, we recommend using the high-quality Neighborhood Fiber Company Studio Sock yarn. This luxurious blend consists of 100% Superwash Merino wool with 20% Nylon for durability. Each skein boasts 400 yards per 100 grams, and the sample was knit in the stunning Patterson Park colorway.
Needles: You will need a set of 5 double-pointed needles or two circular needles size 1 US (2.5 mm), but feel free to use a different size if needed to achieve the correct gauge.
Gauge: The necessary gauge for this pattern is 8 stitches per inch in stockinette when knitting in the round. Achieving the correct gauge is crucial for a perfect fit.
Note: These cabled socks tend to use more yardage compared to standard sock patterns, so be mindful of this while preparing your materials. For reference, a pair of medium women’s size 10 socks utilized 88 grams of the Studio Sock yarn. Always ensure you have an adequate amount of yarn to successfully complete your sock project without any interruptions.
Whether you are knitting for yourself or for a loved one, these socks not only provide warmth and comfort but also showcase your knitting skills with their intricate cable design. Happy knitting!
