Crystal Echo
Introducing the Crystal Echo Slouchy Hat, your new cozy companion for cooler days! This warm and snuggly worsted weight hat is intricately designed to be knit in the round from the bottom up, featuring a stylish twisted rib brim that adds a touch of texture. The body of the hat showcases a stunning snowflake graphic, beautifully created using stranded colorwork techniques in two contrasting colors, making it not just a functional accessory, but a fashionable statement piece.
Yarn Requirements: For this project, you'll need approximately 130 yards (120 meters) of main color (MC) worsted weight yarn and about 65 yards (60 meters) of contrast color (CC) worsted weight yarn. The sample hat was crafted using Knitologie Worsted (100% Merino Wool, 218 yards/100 g) in the trendy Brooklyn Boy Knits colorway Empire. For the contrast, we used Vidalana Ambient Worsted (100% Wool, 201 yards/100 g) in the richly hued colorway Impasto, which perfectly complements the main color.
Gauge: To ensure your hat turns out perfectly, aim for a gauge of 20 stitches and 22 rows per 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch.
Essential Tools: Gather your materials before you start knitting! You'll need size 7 (4.5 mm) 16-inch (40 cm) circular needles—or a size that helps you achieve the required gauge. Plus, a size 5 (3.75 mm) 16-inch (40 cm) circular needle (or two needle sizes smaller than your gauge needle) will be necessary for working the ribbing. Don't forget a stitch marker and a tapestry needle for finishing touches!
Finished Measurements: The completed Crystal Echo Hat will measure 18 inches (46 cm) in circumference around the unstretched brim and stands 10 inches (25 cm) tall, providing ample warmth and style for your head.
