Welcome to our beginner-friendly stranded colorwork hat pattern that showcases both Worsted and Fingering weight versions, allowing you to choose the perfect yarn and experience level for your next project!

Worsted Version: For this version, you will need approximately 100 yards each of 2 contrasting colors. Your main color (MC) should be a solid shade, while your contrasting color (CC) can be self-striping, variegated, or another solid that offers a striking contrast to the main color.

Yarn Requirements: To create a stunning and cozy hat, gather your supplies, which include 100 yards of MC and 100 yards of CC in Worsted weight yarn.

Needles and Tools: To knit this hat, you will require a size US 6 (4mm) circular needle that is 16" long, along with a size US 6 (4mm) set of double-pointed needles or two circulars for the magic loop method. Don’t forget a tapestry needle for weaving in ends and a stitch marker to help keep track of your rows!

Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 20 stitches and 24 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch to ensure the perfect fit for your hat.

Fingering Version: In the Fingering weight option, you'll need approximately 400 yards of MC and 200 yards of CC. Just like the Worsted version, your main color should be solid, and the contrasting color can be variegated or self-striping for added flair.

Yarn Requirements: Assemble your materials, ensuring you have enough yarn with 400 yards of MC and 200 yards of CC in Fingering weight to create a beautifully textured hat.

Needles and Tools: You will need a Size US 3 (3.25 mm) 16" circular needle as well as either five double-pointed needles, two circulars, or one long circular (also size US 3 / 3.25 mm) to complete this project. Remember to have a tapestry needle and a stitch marker at hand as well.

Gauge: For the right fit in this version, maintain a gauge of 34 stitches and 34 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch.

Whether you opt for the Worsted or Fingering version, this hat is an excellent choice for those looking to practice stranded colorwork techniques while creating a stylish and functional accessory. Start your knitting journey today and craft a stunning hat that showcases your creativity!
