Danse des Dragée
Sugar Plum Dance Cowl Knitting Pattern
Every year during the holiday season, I make it a cherished tradition to watch The Nutcracker. The enchanting parade of sweets is undoubtedly my favorite segment, culminating in the iconic La Danse de la Fée Dragée (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy). In this delightful performance, dragées—hard-shelled sweets filled with an assortment of spices, nuts, or seeds—emerge as vibrant representations of celebration. Their round, joyful shapes inspired the design of this charming cowl, which features a playful motif reminiscent of these festive treats dancing in the air.
This beautiful cowl pattern is available in three sizes and is designed to be knit from the bottom up in the round. It begins with a contrast i-cord or a crocheted provisional cast-on, giving it an elegant touch right from the start. Both novice and experienced knitters can enjoy crafting the included cable patterns, which can be worked with or without cable needles based on your preference. To finish this delightful piece, an i-cord bind-off is used, providing a polished look. Skills required include basic knitting stitches, cable techniques, and both i-cord and crocheted provisional cast on and bind off.
