Introducing the Garter Sea Shawl, a delightful knitting pattern that features a captivating design of pebbly stripes created through a few short rows. With endless color possibilities, this shawl offers a unique chance to express your creativity and enjoy the knitting process as much as I did!

This stunning piece is named after Danzig, also known as Gda?sk in Polish—one of my all-time favorite cities. It's a special place where I crafted this shawl, and I wholeheartedly recommend adding it to your travel itinerary if you plan to visit Poland! Trust me, its charm and beauty will capture your heart.

Size: This shawl comes in one size, measuring approximately 200cm (80 inches) wide along the top edge and 75cm (30 inches) high, making it a perfect accessory to wrap around your shoulders or drape over your outfit.

Yarn: For this pattern, you will need 3 skeins of Malabrigo Yarn Mechita, which is 100% merino wool and boasts an impressive length of 384 meters (420 yards) per 100 grams. The sample shown features the colorways MC 036 Pearl (2 skeins) and CC 886 Diana (1 skein). In total, you'll require about 750 yards of fingering weight yarn for the main color (MC) and around 250 yards for the contrasting color (CC).

Needles: The recommended needle size for this project is a 3.75mm/US #5 circular needle, preferably 60cm (24 inches) long, to accommodate the shawl's dimensions and allow for comfortable knitting.

Other Supplies: You'll also need a tapestry needle for weaving in ends and blocking pins to shape your finished shawl perfectly.

Gauge: The gauge for this pattern is 24 stitches and 30 rows = 10cm (4 inches) in Garter stitch worked flat. While achieving the exact gauge isn’t crucial for this project, please note that variations may impact the finished size and the amount of yarn you'll need to complete the shawl.

Whether you're an experienced knitter or looking to enhance your skills, the Garter Sea Shawl is a beautiful project that combines ease of construction with stunning visual appeal. Dive into this knitting journey and create something you'll cherish for years to come!
