Daydreamer
When I first started my knitting journey, I became enamored with a vibrant, brightly-colored sock yarn I discovered in a local yarn shop. Inspired, I decided to transform it into a beautiful sweater for my daughter, diligently calculating the number of stitches and rows needed. While the finished sweater was lovely, my daughter found it challenging to wear due to the neck opening being too small for her head. Thus, the Daydreamer pattern emerged as a sort of "revenge project," incorporating a delightful tweak of speckled yarn that simply didn’t exist back then!
The Daydreamer sweater is intricately designed to be worked from the bottom up, featuring "full-fashioned" decreases on the raglan yoke, which provides a flattering and well-fitted shape. To ensure ease of wear, the top of the back is split into two sections, allowing for a comfortable and generous neckline that makes it easy for little hands to slip in and out effortlessly. This pattern is thoughtfully provided in two methods—both back and forth (to reflect my early knitting experiences before I discovered the joys of knitting in the round) as well as in the round for those who prefer a seamless finish.
Daydreamer is shown in Hedgehog Fibres Sock, showcasing the beauty and versatility of hand-dyed yarns. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced knitter, this pattern offers an enjoyable knitting experience that results in a stunning piece your child will love to wear. Don’t miss the chance to create your own Daydreamer sweater and enjoy the satisfaction of a project that merges nostalgia with modern knitting techniques!
